Good Food Thrive
An estimated 23.6% of the population of India lives below a purchasing power of Rs 100 a day. This poverty does not directly lead to malnutrition but it leaves a large chunk of the population without adequate amounts of food. This makes a lack of access to food since people are too poor to go out and purchase it.[ According to the Registrar General of India, the mortality of children under the age of five was about 59 out of every 1000 live births which is one of the highest rates in the world. It is reported that this is mainly due to malnutrition in the children. Poor nutrition within the first thousand days of a child’s life can have many negative causes to them. It can lead to stunted growth, impaired cognitive ability, reduced school performance, and diseases like diarrhea. According to a report, 68% of deaths in children under 5 years of age, in India, is due to malnutrition. India is facing an unprecedented nutrition crisis and children are the ones most severely impacted. Child under nutrition or malnutrition is measured on three key indicators: stunting (a lower-than-expected height for age), wasting (lower-than-expected weight for height), and underweight (lower-than-expected weight for age). While the prevalence of under nutrition in India had reduced from 13.4% in 2003 to 8.4% in 2014, it has stalled at 8.4% since 2014. Good Food Thrive The whole idea of Good Food Thrive, is to eradicate malnutrition and provide healthy and wellness food for the needy. By good food we mean healthy and nutritious diet food that help boost immunity and maintain an emotional and mental wellbeing of a person. Conceptualized as India’s first project for providing wellness food for the under privileged, for the smooth implementation of this project we have tied up with prominent wellness food suppliers in the country from whom wellness cooked food based of various green leafy veggies and millets will be sourced and supplied to the economically weak class who is deprived of this kind of healthy diet. We plan to implement this project in various orphanages, destitute homes, old age homes, tribal areas, Govt: schools and among the economically weak. We hope this initiative would be beneficial to the economically weaker section of the society especially the children and old age people who faces malnutrition and is deprived of these healthy and nutritious diet foods. We seek your Support and blessings to make this project a successful one and help us in our small initiative to spread the awareness about healthy food habits and its importance in building a strong immune system with necessary intake of essential nutrients.

Why each one teach one?
Most of you will be able to answer the question “What is special about September 5?”. It is “Teacher’s Day”, the day you had gone with gifts to your teachers. But how many of you know the about the specialty of September 8?. Not many may know that that day is celebrated as ‘World Literacy Day’. And why is literacy so important for a country like India?. Literacy, simply put, is the ability to read and write which is the driving force to a progressive nation. We are all lucky enough to have got the gift of learning that enabled us to read and write which in turn provided us Value based education. Good education or value based eduaction not only assures you of a good job but also gives you the tools which help broaden your mind.We all agree that Education and Literacy are the keys to a good future. India has a population of over a billion and unfortunately, half a century after independence, we still have the dubious distinction of having the most number of illiterate people The underprivileged children of India too have got dreams in their eyes and a smile on their lips, but not are lucky enough like us to laugh and learn. Infact, half the children in our country don’t even get a chance to go to school, because their family cannot afford to send them or because there is no one to teach them. What happens if these children do not go to school?. Often, children, as young as nine years, have to work in various trades to support their families. *In India, only 53% of habitation has a primary school, only 20% of habitation has a secondary school. On an average an upper primary school is 3 km away in 22% of areas under habitations. In nearly 60% of schools, there are less than two teachers to teach Classes I to V. On an average, there are less than three teachers per primary school. They have to manage classes from I to V every day. The reasons given by 3 in every drop-outs is the high cost of private education, the need to work to support their families and the little interest in studies. “What this all have to do with me, you might ask. In such a large country like India, the Government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of eradicating illiteracy. Everyone, however young, has a social responsibility to help. Each One Teach One campaign of Y2kTots is an initiative to assist or provide a platform for educated Indians like you to give back what you’ve learnt by teaching underprivileged children or assisting us to provide necessary elements to educate the underprivileged children of our country. The campaign got shaped from our experiences and interactions with these children for past 10 years. We always could quench their thirst for the basic needs of life like food, cloth and shelter, but not their desire for Knowledge or values in life got through education. Under the Each One Teach One campaign Y2ktots have tied with various Orphanages, Opportunity schools, Juvenile homes, Destitute homes for the implementation of its projects like Shade to Read – under this project we would set up state of the art libraries at various juvenile homes, orphanages, destitute homes, Child care homes etc. This project will have major book donations drives.Sponsoring the needy child’s education Under this scheme we are looking for sponsors who will be willing to sponsor the educational needs of a underprivileged child which includes his tuition fees, textbooks, uniforms and other expenses related to his education.Education camps & Tutoring & Career orientations classes – We would be conducting periodic camps and regular tutoring classes for these children. We are looking for volunteers who could help us in realizing our little dreams for a better India though this campaigns. Kindly get in touch with us to learn how you could be a part of this campaign. We, believe education is most important as it enables a child to realize his or her full potential; to think, question and judge independently; develop sense of self-respect, dignity and self-confidence; learn to love and respect fellow human beings and nature; in decision making; develop civic sense, citizenship and values of participatory democracy. Come!!! through Y2kTots Each One teach One campaign let’s share the same belief and help to realize the dreams about these less privileged children of god.

We must treat all with due respect irrespective of the social, economical and political situations they are in. For that just follow the golden rule of “Putting yourself in the position of other person” will always help. Let’s begin with a small story..A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met a long-haired, bearded biker sitting by his motorcycle. He was in the park just relaxing amongst nature and staring at some gulls. The boy sat down next to the biker and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the bearded man looked a little hungry so he offered him a Twinkie. The biker gratefully accepted it and smiled warmly at the boy. His smile was so pretty and his eyes gleamed so warmly that the boy wished to see the smile again, so he offered him a root beer. Again, the friendly man smiled nicely at the boy. The child was delighted! The two of them sat there all afternoon munching on twinkies and smiling happily, but they never exchanged a word. As darkness came, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps he turned around, ran back to the handsome bearded man and gave him a hug. The biker gave the boy his biggest, warmest smile ever as the boy ran off to his home. When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, “What did you do today that made you so happy?” He replied, “I had lunch with God.” But before his mother could respond, he added, “You know what? He’s got the coolest motorcycle I’ve ever seen!” His Mom just stood there with her mouth wide open. Meanwhile, the lonely bearded man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His pet mouse was so awestruck by the look of peace on his face that he asked, “Hey, what did you do today that made you so happy?” He replied, “I ate Twinkies in the park with God.” And before the little pet mouse responded, he added, “You know, Mouse, God’s much younger than I expected.” Moral: Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally! When we share laughter, there is twice the fun. When we share success, we have surpassed what we have done When we share problems, there is half the pain. When we share tears, a rainbow follows rain. When we share dreams, they become more real. When we share secrets, we reveal our hearts. If we share a smile, that is when our love shows. If we share a hug, that is when our love grows. In addition, what draws us closer and makes us all care is not what we have, but the things that we share……. Most of us does not know where to find genuine help or on the other hand who genuinely needs help. Through Care 2 Share project we plan to bridge this gap. Through the webpages given under this project you can share your need and we will help you in getting these message across to people who can support in your need. You can also share any items, used or new if it is of no use to you but there may be somebody who would be in need of it but cant afford to. You can also donate to specific needs listed under this project and change somebody’s future. All the needs shared and needs to be fulfilled will be verified with the concerned persons before it appears on the website. We request you to support us in this project with regard to general charity and show to the world that Real People Make Great Angels..

Founded, way back in the year 2000 at Bangalore by a group of students, Y2ktots today has a number of enthusiastic youths from every walks of life as its active volunteers who are determined to bring a positive change in the life of these helpless people. As an Organization based out of Kochi, Kerala, Y2ktots foundation had been in the forefront of the rescue and relief activities since Kerala was hit by the worst-ever floods in a century. More than 400 people have lost their lives and over a lakh people have become homeless due to this unprecedented calamity. As far as the estimate by the government of Kerala there is a total damage which amounts to a whopping Rs 40,000 cores. SnehaSparsham is our way of Rehabilitation Process for the flood affected through which we plan to bring in solace and comfort in the mentally traumatized life of these unfortunate people. We believe with the collective effort we could change the unforeseen destiny of these people and bring in some light into the life of these ill-fated of our fellow human beings. Since the time the devastating floods had destroyed the dreams and lifes of a many, our volunteers had extended the support to the flood affected victims in the worst affected places like N. Paravur, Alwaye, Kuttanad, Thrissur, Idukki and even to the remote tribal colonies personally visiting their homes and handing over the relief materials. Under SnehaSparsham we plan to launch various welfare schemes. We would have • Housing Projects • Livelihood Support • Micro finance • Motivational and interactive programs and many more which we think can help them to forget the misery they underwent and make them ready to face the present life after the floods and the future with more courage and determination to overcome all the challenges they would face while rebuilding. Through snehasparsham we have made sure that apart from the much needed mental support they need, a little bit of financial support to restart their life with hastily is also taken care of. To make SnehaSparsham , a reality we need support from good-hearted people like you. Kindly do support our noble venture and accept our invite heartily to be a part of our way of bringing solace to the unfortunate of our brothers and sisters and to revel in their joys and share their woes and to make yourself stand tall and proud for having done your part. Shade to Read
Most of us who love reading cherish the time we spent as children in libraries scanning through books of various shapes and sizes with vivid covers and enticing titles. Every book has a re-read value and somebody may need what you don’t. As the saying goes Knowledge shall set you free and books will bring knowledge. It is this simple thought which has motivated us to come up with such a project. Many NGOs working with children, in schools and colleges,or with the elderly, or the ill in hospitals and institutions, Orphanages and other charity homes need books of all kind for their inmates. On the other hand there are lot of books lying at homes or offices unread or read once. Most of them doesnot know what to do with them and most of it goes along with the waste paper. Through Shade To Read project we are planning to fill this gap and trying to act as a facilitator in between the two. We would have major book donation drives at various places like offices, schools, Colleges, Apartments and other public places which would ensure more of a public participation for the book donation. Under the scheme we would set up state of the art libraries in NGO’s working with children, elderly people and other needy. This would be done upon considering the request from the institutions for the same. We hope this initiative would be benefical to lot of people or children who has been deprived of this wonderful experiences in life.We seek your Support and blessings to make this project a succesful one and help us in our small initiative to spread the awarness about education and its importance to the less privileged of god’s children.
